Upon purchasing the Fenix, I was pleasantly surprised by how much it outperformed the Forerunner— a decision I made on a whim. To me, Fenix surpasses the Forerunner in almost every aspect, and the additional expense is justified given the upgrades. However, if the additional features like the enhanced data, larger screen, touchscreen, and flashlight aren’t crucial for you, then the Forerunner might suffice, as most of its fundamental functions remain comparable to the Fenix.

I had been contemplating upgrading my FR945 to the 965 for quite some time. While I initially hoped for a sale during Memorial Day or Father’s Day, it never materialized. However, the recent release of the Fenix 7 Pro on June 1st caught my attention, particularly its enhanced MIP screen. Numerous reviews of the 965 mentioned its screen’s susceptibility to scratches due to its protrusion above the bezel. Consequently, I opted for the Fenix 7 Pro Sapphire and haven’t looked back. The display is a noticeable improvement over the 945: colors pop, and the resolution is sharper. The additional features like stamina and running power metrics are impressive additions. In terms of performance analytics, Garmin stands unrivaled. While the Fenix 7 Pro is undeniably bulkier, which is anticipated given its 51mm size, its battery life is commendable. After a full charge and an hour-long run, I was pleasantly surprised to see the battery still at 96%!
